29th and 30th sunrise of 2013
Aloha kakahiaka! Good morning!
I am soooooooooo grateful for all the healing thoughts and prayers that went out for my dear friend Lisette. Mahalo nui everyone ♥ She is doing remarkably well. She returned home to Kauai yesterday afternoon. We had a wonderful conversation last evening speaking of the many wonders on this earth and in this life. At the incredible ability to heal when we focus and have pure intentions for healing to take place. Eating as organic and raw as we can. Drinking pure water. Enjoying and loving life to the fullest each and every moment we are given on this planet. Mahalo ke akua
Missed yesterday posting as my computer jammed up so here is the sunrise from January 29th...

27 suns
Morning sky announces the coming storm....the color was awesome and unearthly...glowing from the ash particles in the air. Forewarning of something big on the horizon....
Today I am thankful for my dear dear friend, Lisette, and her miraculous rebound from emergency brain surgery!! She was LifeFlighted over to Oahu Queens Hospital for the procedure. She has been taken out from ICU and is "stable". Even had a short conversation with her! Hopefully will be returning home to Kauai soon. She is so inspirational! Blessed to have her in my life guiding my spirit with love!
Prayers continue to flow for her and her hubby!

Sunrise 26 of 2013
To be out on this point of the island this morning was almost other worldly to me. The movement of the sea was strong and erratic...waves coming from different directions. Waves crashing into one another. The sun did not appear as we still have thick thick VOG coming over from big island Hawaii...and Mauna Kea. But the color of the sea and clouds was stunning..mesmerizing and uplifting.
Today, if my mother still lived on this side of being, she would be 83 years old. Happy Birthday Mom..I miss you! I sang my prayers for you this morning and the birds answered ♥ Then an owl flew along the edge of the bay♥ Mahalo ke akua!

Voggy Sunrise
A voggy sunrise on th is 25th day of 2013. Vog arrives from the volcano erupting on the big island of Hawaii. It makes my eyes weep and my lungs struggle for breath. Vog shrouds much with a thick, thick haze. The sun is barely visible and the air is so still. IT feels other worldly to me standing on the pali at the oceans edge.

Awaken to a faint call for HELP...
Aloha kakahiaka!
This morning I am so thankful that I sleep lightly.
At 3:30 am I was awakened with a faint call for HELP. At first took me a second to realize that the call was real and not in my dream. I jumped outa bed and ran to the back door, stepping on my kitty, Kookie's paws as he ran beside me trying to assist. I went to his back bedroom window and asked him did he need me to call 911. He said his front door was unlocked and I ran around and went in. He was flat on his back and not looking well. He was in a whole lot of pain. I told him not to move that the Fire and Ambulance is on it's way. He asked me to call his sister. She lives two doors down. Within minutes the Emergency crew were there. They came in quietly..no sirens just lights going. Considerate to not wake up others.
So scary to live alone and have a fall. There is an emergency alarm but it is in the bathroom, side of the commode. Most falls happen when someone tries to get out from bed to relieve themselves in the middle of the night. This is exactly what happen to my neighbor, John. They put him on a back board and gurney, then took him to the hospital. I hope and pray that he will be alright.
Upon my return from my morning walk at the beach the Fire Dept was at my complex again. John had been released from the hospital, and with help from his sister, they were making it back to his apartment and fell again. He is very ill with the flu and pneumonia and now he suffered a 2nd fall which busted up his head and knees. Hope the hospital keeps him this time. Something to do with Medicare his sister said. Jeeze why oh why do we not have health care for EVERYONE in this country?? I don't get it???

Aloha kakahiakia!! Good morning from Hanapepe Bay on Kaua'i!!
This morning I am thankful for a calmer ocean on this side of the island. It has been some real high surf and pounding waves. So far we have lost two visitors that did NOT heed the warnings and were walking out on coastal rocks and got knocked with a wave and thrashed to death in the mighty kai. Please when you come visit here, anytime of the year..use EXTREME caution when entering our ocean or walking along her shorelines. malama pono~

Computer Crash..Oops...
1.19.13 sunrise
1.20.13 sunrise
I spent the pass two days fixing my computer from a CRASH. I am feeling pretty good as I managed to fix the entire computer by myself. I couldn't restore to what I had but manage to restore to factory settings and hardware.
Let this be a lesson to me and perhaps others. I had not change my "update" settings after my last computer fix by a professional. He didn't set me up for auto updates..so then i had a bunch like 107 updates. So I tried to update and something went terribly wrong. CRASH!!
So then I just kept at it and tried and tried. Finally about an hour ago I got it all connected and restored and here I am. I have to say that I just became fearless in diving into the computer and following commands and saying a bunch of prayers *:D It would jam up and I would shut it down and then let it and me rest and then get back to it. Finally this morning I broke through and got to be able to "restore"...what a relief.
I am one who is totally dependent on my computer desktop. I do NOT have a TV so all my movies of tv programs I watch on my desktop. All my bill paying is now done online and most of my communications is also done with the computer. I also have four websites to maintain and communicate with as well as this blog.
A question for my lady friends??? Have you ever tried to fix your own computer when things jammed up and you could not get on line or get anything to respond with your computer? Were you successful? Well I can tell you that it saved me a couple hundred dollars at least!! And this has a wonderful feeling to it!

ALOHA FRIDAY, 18th Sunrise
"Any change, even a change for the better,
is always accompanied by drawbacks and discomforts."
Arnold Bennett
Aloha kakahiaka!
Last night I attended one of THE most important and Herstorical events on this island of Kaua'i. Dr. Vandana Shiva was part of our GMO Free Kauai panel and ceremony from the Kanuikapono Charter School, joined by
Andrew Kimbrell, executive director of the Center for Food Safety in
Washington, D.C., and Walter Ritte, a local leader and educator from
Moloka‘i. Makana gave us his truthful poetry and songs setting the stage for Raising Awareness, Invisioning Change!
There was so much information shared. Much of it shocking and much of it disheartening. To come to the realization that the state I live in, is THE LARGEST grower and distributor of GMO seed that is distributed throughout the USA and her territories, sickened my heart..my total being!
Kaua'i is being poisoned...her land, her water, her ocean, her air and EVERY living thing..POISONED! We are under attack with just about a 24 SEVEN agenda of spraying of pesticides upon the growing GMO crops that command over 12,000 acres of our island.
GMO crops have been here under the guise of corn growing companies like DuPont, Dow Chemical, Monsanto and Sygenta. These are chemical companies that purpose is to create chemicals of destruction...POISON! We must not only think about it but then venture about Google and edudcate ourselves to this future we are in the midst of...and bring a END to the WAR and assault upon every living thing on this planet with pesticides and altered genetics of our food and seeds!

Aloha
kakahiaka! It is a chilly morning on the island this morning. The
earth is saturated from all the rain we have had and with the cool, cool
tempts of mid 50's in the night, for us it is chilly, tropical kind,
chilly. I turned on my car heater for the first time since I have had
my car.
The
above quote reminds me to do my best, and NOT get caught up in petty
gossip, that has a tendency to flow around work, this island and just
about any small community. Being silent and listening gives us great
wisdom.
I
am thankful that I know the wisdom of silence. To practice the art of
listening well this is a challenge each and every day..but I continue to
strive to truly hear what is being spoken to me...like the sun when it
rises speaks volumes of peace and tranquility to me daily!
May there be many blessing of ALOHA in your day today and each and every day!

Shrouded Sunrise ..
Aloha kakahiaka! Good morning!!
Thick clouds with heavy rain more on than off this morning. Clouds shrouded the rising sun. When I rounded the corner heading down the road to Salt Ponds , looking toward the west some slight color on the horizon below the thick cloud cover.
I love the rain. I respect the rain. Living on an island, in the middle of the Pacific ocean, we really depend on rain to help provide our fresh water drinking source. Water is vital to human survival. We can go long periods of time without food, but to go even a day without water can affect us physically and drastically. I am thankful for all the wonderful rain that pours upon us today!!

13th Sunrise of 2013
Hanapepe, Kauai
"When the most important things in our life happen we quite often do not know, at the moment, what is going on."
C.S. Lewis
Aloha kakahiaka! Good morning on this 13th day of 2013!! I came across this above quote cleaning out my email this morning. My hani son, Coyote Prophet sends along emails with wonderful quotes that usually tap on course for where my thoughts have wandered. This particular quote gives me a perspective in the power of prayer.
I was giving thanks during my morning prayers for all the aloha of my Kumu, hui and halua with sharing all that was shared yesterday during our annual ceremony and workshop. I reflected one of the things I let go of during my heiwai was the self programming I give myself when learning a new hula, or something new in everyday life..my thoughts often go to.. "I am not going to remember this." I released that to Ke Akua, and lo and behold the dance we learned in the workshop really stuck because I was conscious TO REMEMEBER!
We are, at least for me, we are what we think. Manifestation begins in a thought rather it is positive or not. Perhaps what we ask for will appear...becoming that important thing in our life that may just seem to happen. So for me I am trying to become completely conscious of my thoughts and then prepare myself for those prayers I have ask assistance with.

12th Sunrise From the East Side
I am a bit late getting this posted today because I have been on the other side of the island since 5 am this morning. My Halau Hula O Hali'ileo had our renewal ceremony Heiwai. We went to the East side of the island and prayed, let go of all the old stuffs and then cleansed ourselves in the ocean and let all of the stuffs go out through the sea to Ke Akua. It is a ceremony with great intention of starting anew, with focus on ourself, our Kumu and our Halau. With this focus we come to realize that hula and the study of hula is a way of life and will relate and be significant in all the things we think and do that is pono -good. I am grateful that during the time of Maka hiki my halau gathers to do this ceremony with our Kumu. This year we were joined with another Halua and Kumu Maka Herrod. What a wonderful blessing to be pono with the aina and with kai and letting Ke Akua guide us. Mahalo Ke Akua!!! Mahalo Kumus Doric Yaris and Maka Herrod, and Hula sister Sarah Grossman and hula brother Loren Rendon and all the others in our wonderful Halau.
We were then blessed with an incredible anuenue, rainbow, shortly after the sun rose out from the clouds.
Then we gathered with three other halua and had a hula awana workshop. We were taught a hula by Kumu Pua, written by one of Kauai's most valued ohana about the area we were at. Waipoli to Kapaa. What a precious treat to have shared with us....a bit of history told through the mele...song!
Then it was lunch and talk story to round out a filled with ALOHA time.
I am very thankful for the lessons that are taught and the love and respect of our hula hui and precious Kumu's ♥ Mahalo Ke Akua!!

2013 Sunrise Number TEN
Aloha kakahiaka! Good morning!
I took my walk around Salt Pond bay this morning. My camera jammed up during my walk! Shootzzzz ... almost missed the actual sun rising and snapped the last photo above about two minutes before. I am hoping it was just the battery that went. I take plenty photos almost each and every day. I purchase these inexpensive, wonderful digital cameras like my fave from GE...but they tend to just jam up then quit without any indication that this may be THE last photo I will get from it.
Oh well I always have a backup with my larger and trusty rusty film camera, my Pentax XK1000 that I have had for over 35 years. Shootz..I don't know where I can purchase film, as well as have it developed on this tiny island out in the middle of the Pacific Ocean?

HAU'OLI LA HANAU!!!
Celebrate Life!!
On this day, 63 years ago my mother gave birth to me. Mahalo nui loa Mom for giving me life! I just wish you were alive to celebrate with me.
This morning I was gifted with this gorgeous sunrise at one of my favorite perches on the island...a perfect spot to watch the sun greet a new day and watch the Humpback whales kiss the sky awake!
This year celebration of my life began early. I have been receiving Birthday wishes and blessings as well as gifts for over a week and a half. I feel so loved and appreciated. Thank you all for your beautiful wishes, cards and gifts.
Last night we had a slumber party with my two hani nieces, Naia, and Leilani. These are the sweetest little girls in my life! They are such a joy to be with. We are spending the day together, going to the beach and then hopefully we will all get to eat some BIRTHDAY CAKE!!
I made fresh Blueberry oat pancakes with homemade mixed berry syrup. Yummie.....and afterward
They gifted me with some precious things, crystals that reflect rainbows when the sun comes through and a beautiful glass blown frog...and a piece of Carnelian. Thank you girls I know just how much these items all mean to you.
I feel very blessed to have great health, and loved heart and a peace-filled spirit. I am grateful for my purpose of life...I will continue to flow with pure aloha..living the life of giving with my heart open and welcoming.
Now it is time for beach, sun and we all hope BIRTHDAY CAKE!!

Welll this is exactly what I am up to this morning and the rest of this day...hustling around the island for my job with Banana Patch/ALoha Spice Company. I am so grateful for this glorious sunrise filled with promise and good creative thoughts going through my mind ♥

Seventh Sunrise!
Seventh Sunrise!
Aloha kakahiaka! Good morning from Kaua'i !
I love the rain. I love the ocean. I revere the sea. I appreciate the rain..every single drop is vital for this island and her ability to assist the people who live here to thrive. Mahalo Ke Akua!
I also love the number SEVEN! There are teachings of vision for SEVEN generations..to me this means to see the Earth and all her beings living, breathing and thriving for the duration of SEVEN generations. Now lets look at this in the minimalist number of years, 7. This would mean: 7 x 7 equals 49 x 7 equals 330 times 7 = 2,310 times 7 equals 16,170 time 7 for a grand total of 113,190 years. You can do the math differently by saying a generation life expectancy, is on average a length of 82 years, nowadays.
Wow that would really take it to another level of being conscience about....taking good, meticulous care of our Mother, the Earth so that she may provide the great elements of clean air, fresh clean water and fertile soil so that every living being on this Earth can live and thrive.
